New Web Portal Launched for the Promotion of Supply Chain Careers

TORONTO, Ontario—A new web portal was launched today, for the purpose of promoting careers within the supply chain.

While there are links to other websites with job postings (including recruiters’ sites), Careers in the Supply Chain is more about reaching those outside of the supply chain and introducing them to the industry and about providing career development information for those already employed in the supply chain or public procurement positions.

The website includes interviews with people currently working in all aspects of the industry (including those holding transportation, warehousing, purchasing and management roles), information about education and training, and explanations about what the supply chain actually is and how it works.

The online resource is the result of a project run by 15 industry organizations that have come together under the banner of the Supply Chain Career Awareness Collaborative.

“The skills of a supply chain professional are transferable across all sectors, industries and countries,” said SCCAC spokesperson Cori Ferguson.

“As stakeholders we want to ensure those who are unemployed, under-employed, or looking to make a career transition understand the opportunities available to them and have access to the resources necessary to advance their supply chain career.”

The 15 organizations that comprise the Supply Chain Career Awareness Collaborative are:

  • APICS The Association for Operations Management—Canadian District
  • CITT (Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation)
  • Calgary Logistics Council
  • Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association
  • Canadian Public Procurement Council
  • Canadian Supply Chain Sector Council
  • Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport—North America
  • Halifax Employers Association
  • Healthcare Supply Chain Network
  • International Warehouse Logistics Association—Canadian Council
  • Purchasing Management Association of Canada
  • The Shipping Federation of Canada
  • Supply Chain & Logistics Association Canada
  • The Van Horne Institute
  • Western Transportation Advisory Council (WESTAC)
